What is the most under-appreciated theorem in your field?

No formulas, no code — a post can be entirely ordinary. Most of this board is people talking.

Mine is the Cayley–Hamilton theorem: every square matrix satisfies its own characteristic polynomial. It sounds like a curiosity and turns out to be load-bearing everywhere.
